It is still warm enough to not require a Chewbacca fur suit to stay comfortable. In fact it can be somewhat of a puzzle to determine what is the proper degree of riding gear to wear...changing more often in preparation than Lois getting ready for a BonJovi concert (you know, in case she does get 'invited' back stage...again...).
Then once out on the trail, it is like a new world has crashed a stalling party. The veil of green and shrubbery has opened up and it's like you can see forever; riders on the next ridge, half a kilometre away; the deer nervously looking your way from the side of the next hill.... or your back yard??
Yup...they're baaaaack...
...And the canopy has retracted, lighting up the mountain bikers world to new colours and views...
Dundas Peak...near my home...
Webster's Falls...near my home...
Meredith et al on SMBC trails
KL...cuz the views in BC ain't already awesome enough...
Fig and Jessie...cliff overlooking Georgian Bay
View before I say Boo...
View after I say Boo...
Oh-oh...
Local trail...
Wait...look again...sometimes its easy to miss the beauty in the trail...
Anyways...the veil and canopy having dropped their leafy fabric to blanket the trails...hiding roots and rocks, enough to make you wonder what dangers lie beneath. Or more likely, to uncover what magic your bike can do if you let it...without worry of an upcoming obstacle...rolling it all smoothly, awakening your latent amazing bike skills.
And the leaves...also displaying the supernatural ability to turn every squirrel and chipmunk into a raging mastadon crashing through the forest to crush you into a patty of carbon, spandex, and Oakleys...
Hey...so it has finally quit raining this morning...the sun is out, hopefully dry things out enough that I can get a fall ride in today...
Any plans for good fall rides this weekend?? Let's get it in before Fall gives way to snow and the winter bully. Then it is fatbike season...and already the winter fatbike race schedules are getting posted...which I will cover on a future post. Well maybe a taste...here
SubstanceProjects/45 North 2017 Fatbike series
and....
Okay...that's enough. There is no snow yet...and hopefully winter is years away...
For now...let's get out, enyoy Fall...get some good rides in...make some good stories for me to write about on Tuesday...
Stay posted!!
